Masonry Sealing & Waterproofing

Water is masonry's biggest enemy. It carries salts, freezes and expands, feeds algae and drives deterioration. A good sealer, applied to sound, clean masonry, reduces water absorption without trapping vapor inside the wall.

We use breathable penetrating sealers such as silanes and siloxanes, and we repair the leaks, joints and flashing that cause the moisture problem in the first place. A sealer is not a cure for failing mortar, so for many Nashville walls we repoint first and seal second.

Common questions about sealing & waterproofing

Will sealing stop all leaks?

A sealer reduces absorption but does not fix failed mortar, cracks or flashing. Those are repaired first.

Is a glossy sealer a good idea?

Film-forming sealers can trap moisture in brick and often cause damage. Breathable penetrating products are usually safer.

How long does sealer last?

It varies with the product and exposure. We advise on re-application.
